First Day

So, we finally got into madrid after an 8 hour flight to london and a 3 hour connection to spain. I had reading madrid's newspaper and realized I had made a mistake. Due to my lack of recognition of time zones I had assumed we would miss kaka's presentation, however the paper kindly informed me that we would have plenty of time to see it. So we got into the airport pretty happy while we waited on our bags. We waited, waited, and waited some more. You know the funny thing about spain? Not everyone speaks english. Ya i know, shocker. So it was up to my somewhat rusty spanish to not only find out where the customer service was, but also to confirm our baggage was still in london ( Ya know if british airways made me work for no pay I'd get lazy too). SO finally after 30 minutes I realized I was actually doing pretty well communicating. I guess thats what they meant by thrown into the language. I was forced to use what I know in order to just leave the airport. The day was crazy. Visiting the Santiago Bernabeu was unbelievable and I can't wait to see what happens next.

Flying out

Well, there's no more time to prepare and here I am waiting to board the plane that will steal me away from home and throw me into the biggest trip of my life. Everything has been going great so far and mom is flying over with me so she can see the sights for a few days, or something like that. So mom and I made plans to use my free day before meeting my host family to see Madrid and Real Madrid's stadium. It just so happens that kaká will be presented at the bernabeu the same day I'm visiting. This trip couldn't start off any better. Wrong. Kaká's presentation is at 2:30 pm. We land at 3:30. Oh well you win some and you lose some. Well I'm off because I'm boarding the plane! Spain here I come!
